2019. gada 17. jūlijā vakarā Sanhuana (Puertoriko) izcēlās sadursmes starp policiju un protestētājiem, kuri jau nedēļu pieprasa gubernatora atkāpšanos no amata.
Protestu sērija uzplaiksnīja tad, kad publiskā telpā nonāca 900 lapaspuses no gubernatora privātā Telegram čata ar sev pietuvinātiem. Protestētāji apvaino gubernatoru korupcijā un iedzīvotāju apvainošanā.
